Inside/outside the body, inside/outside the lungs air, inside/outside the earth, inside/outside a habitable space, inside/outside an identity ….
The video makes a comparison with the throat, which during singing raises the uvula and forms a cave, an important characteristic for interpreting lyrical singing. In this way, the body is associated with the ground, the structure of the throat with the cave.
The video performance, as well as the live performance, consist of singing Greek poems that were written on the walls of a leprosy sanatorium by patients in 1909. These poems speak about death and suffering, and the melody is inspired by the chemical components of a cave floor (calcium carbonate) that began to form 150 million years ago. These elements are considered to compose the song.
The video performance takes place inside and outside the Olimpi Cave, alluding to the abandonment of the earth, surface/depth. The melody is sung in two voices for an octave.
