The action consisted in looking for pre-Hispanic melodies whose lyrics and messages were altered by the Spaniards during the colonization in America, melodies that have been converted from prayers to nature to Christian religious invocations; such alterations were made mainly by the Jesuits during the first evangelizations in Ecuador.
For the performance, these melodies were reverted to their original meaning and language and were sung in Quichua. There are seven prayers to nature that were performed in the Catholic Chapel of Margaret Fowler Garden.
From my own crossbreeding I start analyzing the cultural implications between the indigenous and the western in order to reflect on the processes of transformation and annulment of the theological knowledge of the original peoples by a dominant culture.
Lyrics of melodies:
Salve gran madre poderosa madre
Salve eterna tierra sagrada que brindas riqueza y bienestar
Damos gracias a nuestra madre, la tierra que nos sostiene, gracias madre de cultivo gracias
Salve dolorosa y afligida tierra
Que tus dolores a todos nos salve
Santa tierra piedad
Nido de plata piedad piedad nido de oro piedad piedad
Perdón o tierra Santa o Diosa mía perdón madre tierra
Perdón indulgencia perdón y clemencia perdón y piedad
