The moons I did not see

Title: The moons I did not see
Modality: Performance

I interpret six phases of dead moons by means of a musical interpretation system based on the lunar calendar. The pre-Columbian inhabitants of Imbabura where I belong were astrologers and visualized the stars mainly for agricultural production.

I sing and translate from the visual lunar calendar to the non-visible sound, because of a self-confinement I did not see the Moons and not seeing the Moon because of a pandemic, I see the importance of the Moon on Earth and the rituals of the approach with the stars in pre-Hispanic times, cosmovisions about the Moon that are extinct that I did not see them, I do not live them nor transmit them.

I consider the phases of the dead Moons as past, I place them in the past, in the time associated with the pre-Hispanic era as a finished and dead past, and with it all the astronomical information that is surrounded by the celestial deities that act and determine the behavior of the Universe, in addition the connection of the moon whit female fertility is present

Being a work in pandemic I use elements that are in my home and that contains its history, therefore, this self-referential work is made with a pilche or mate, an element of nature that by its round shape alludes to the moon, an element used by some cultures of Ecuador.

It is a performance that raises awareness about the contributions found in the train of oblivion about the Moon and pre-Hispanic cultures.

Process: The phases of the Moon are obtained from figures that correspond to musical times; thus: the full Moon, two rounds (one square), and the new Moon, two silences of rounds (one square), a crescent, a round, a waning Moon, a white and so on. I sing the six phases of six months simultaneously forming a chorus.
